Day Three Winding RIver Resort, Colorado

Our home for 8 days is in a beautiful setting. We're just a mile from the southeast entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. In a valley surrounded by mountains. They had to cut alot of the tree's down due to some beetle killing them, but its still an awesome camp ground!

There is a ton of stuff for the kids to do.. pony rides, hay rides, visit the chickens, horses, goats, pigs, a miniature horse and even a donkey.

As far as the activities, we did almost all of them yesterday several times. The kids LOOOOOOOVE the chickens. They all run to whatever side Josie or Buddy are on hoping they'll give them some green grass.

They both love the horses as well. Buddy

walked up to one, and said to him
"C'mon Horse, I just want to give you a hug! C'mere and give me a hug!" (Picture)

We went into Grand Lake, that was pretty neat- a total tourist
town though so we probably wont go in there very much.
I forgot Gunners socks and it's cold here - especially in the mornings. And do you think a town with only gift shops and a few "normal" stores had baby socks? Oh no. Well- One did for $28 for 6 pairs of infant socks that his feet just barely fit into. I didnt buy them. He can wear Buddys socks (or rather- thigh highs because thats how far up they go on Gunner!) until we can get to a walmart.

All 6 of us
(Jerry, Grandpa Gerber, the kids, and I)
went on a hayride last night. Josie got to sit up front for part of the trip! It was very cute- we stopped at a "ghost" town with some fun things for the kids to do.

They had root beer at the "bar" and roasted
marshmallows, threw
"cow pies" into an
outhouse, roped some
cattle, went to jail,
and shot at some
bottles on top of a
barrel. They had the
barrel rigged pretty neat-
Three bottles on top and they gave the kids a cap gun.

The kids shot at the bottles and all the sudden water came out of the holes in the barel and the cowboy would ask the kids to shoot the Bottles and not his barrel please. They did this over and over and over. Josie said "Mom, I'm aiming right at the bottles!" Both older kids are a fair shot at fairs and such when they shoot for prizes so Josie was pretty disappointed she kept "missing" the bottles. I thought they would catch on that nothing was coming out of the gun... but no. Pretty Funny. Grandpa Gerber got quite a chuckle out of them shooting.

Having Grandpa along has been so much fun, and honestly, made it easier for us. (atleast while Grandpa and Jerry are here- right now they are out scouting for places to hunt). The kids love the extra time with him, Jerry loves hunting with him, and I love having another adult around to smack the kids when they are naughty. Hahaha... Ya right, But he does help keep them out of trouble. So my question is- when are G-daddy Miles and Grandma Candy going camping with us. John's been talking for years of doing some family thing and I think that would be fun.. maybe next summer!
Onto another day- My Battle Buddy from Basic Training and AIT is driving up today from Pueblo where she lives now- I'll blog more about it later...
